Published: 24th September 2013

Lord Heseltine met with members of the Sheffield City Region LEP Board including Brewster Pratap Partner Nigel Brewster discuss the progress on the Sheffield City Region’s  economic growth plan

In the meeting Lord Heseltine discussed his vision for LEPs with Chairman James Newman and Board Members Julie Kenny CBE, Cllr Julie Dore, Professor Philip Jones, Nigel Brewster and Cllr Sir Stephen Houghton CBE.

In March 2013, an independent report from Lord Heseltine, ‘No Stone Unturned’, set out a comprehensive economic plan to improve the UK’s ability to create wealth. This recommended devolution of powers and funding to LEPs and has since influenced Government policy.  From Heseltine’s visit, Board Members were keen to hear his recommendations for Sheffield City Region’s LEP, based on his extensive experience of working with Government.  Sheffield Council Chief Executive John Mothersole, Chair of the Peak District National Park Authority Cllr Tony Favell, Sheffield Council Policy and Improvement Officer Laurie Brennan, and Sheffield City Region Executive Team Chief Executive Ben Still, also attended the meeting which took place at the AMP Technology Centre in Rotherham.  For more information visit http://www.sheffieldcityregion.org.uk/
